This medicine is primarily used for the treatment of prostate cancer in men. Specifically, it is prescribed for men with advanced prostate cancer that has spread to other parts of the body, a condition known as metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC). This drug works by reducing the production of androgens, which are male hormones that can promote the growth of prostate cancer cells. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Abiraterone Acetate<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> is often used in combination with another medication called prednisone, a steroid that helps manage side effects and enhances the effectiveness of the treatment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In some cases, Abiraterone is also used for the treatment of high-risk patients who have not responded well to initial hormone therapies. By decreasing androgen levels, this therapeutic drug can slow down the progression of cancer, improve signs and symptoms, and potentially extend the patient\u2019s life.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Dosage and Side Effects:\u00a0<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>Metastatic CRPC:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> The recommended dose of Abiraterone is 1,000 mg (two 500 mg tablets or four 250 mg tablets) orally once daily along with prednisone 5 mg orally twice daily.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Metastatic High-risk CSPC:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> The recommended dose of Abiraterone is 1,000 mg (two 500 mg tablets or four 250 mg tablets) orally once daily along with prednisone 5 mg administered orally once daily.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Abiraterone tablets must be taken as a single dose once daily on an empty stomach. It is not advisable to eat food 2 hours before and 1 hour after taking this medicine. The tablets must be swallowed whole with water.
