Description

Apremilast, an inhibitor of phosphodiesterase 4 (PDE4), is indicated for the treatment of:

  • Adult patients with active psoriatic arthritis.
  • Patients with moderate to severe plaque psoriasis who are candidates for systemic or phototherapy therapy.

Dosage and Side Effects

  • Dosing begins at 10mg on the first day with a gradual increase over 5 days, up to max dose of 30mg twice a day.   • Otezla has not been specified in adolescents and children, therefore it should be not recommended for use in children and adolescents aged 17 years and under.
  • Patients with the known hypersensitivity to apremilast or to any of the excipients in the formulation should avoid it.
