Description
A selective vasopressin V2-receptor antagonist called tolvaptan tablet is used to treat patients with heart failure, cirrhosis, and Syndrome of Inappropriate Antidiuretic Hormone (SIADH) who have clinically significant hypervolemic and euvolemic hyponatremia, defined as serum sodium <125 mEq/L or less marked hyponatremia that is symptomatic and has resisted correction with fluid restriction.Â
Dosage and Side Effects
Tolvaptan tablets are often started at a dose of 15 mg once daily, without regard to meals. If necessary to reach the target level of serum sodium, the dose can be raised to 30 mg once daily, up to a maximum of 60 mg once daily, after at least 24 hours. Always keep an eye out for variations in the volume and serum electrolytes during the beginning and titration phases. Don’t forget to take your Tolvaptan tablet’s dosages. Take the missed dose as soon as you remember it if you miss it. If the next dose is almost here, skip the one you missed. Simply take the subsequent dosage around your scheduled time. Never take more than one dose at once.
