Provide an anti-diarrheal agent (e.g., loperamide) for self-administration at the onset of diarrhea and instruct patients to continue anti-diarrheal treatment until loose bowel movements cease for 12 hours.Â
Interstitial lung disease or ILD-like side effects (such as lung infiltration, acute respiratory distress syndrome, pneumonitis, or alveolitis allergic) may occur. Withhold Afanat during the evaluation of patients with suspected interstitial lung disease and stop therapy in those with confirmed ILD.
Obtain periodic liver testing in individuals during therapy with Afanat tablets. Withhold therapy in patients who develop worsening of liver function. In individuals who develop severe hepatic impairment while taking this medicine, discontinue treatment.Â
Keratitis, characterized as acute/worsening eye inflammation, light sensitivity, blurred vision, eye pain, lacrimation, and/or red eye may occur in patients treated with Afatinib. This drug should be used with caution in those with a history of keratitis, ulcerative keratitis, or serious dry eye.
